It has been a long time since I posted anything here. The scariest part about writing is that you eventually have to let someone read what you've written. Well, I suppose you don't, but then you end up like Emily Dickinson, and I don't have the incredible skill necessary to become an bona fide eccentric recluse.
So, I have a chapter. It is written and will soon be read by the people who love me enough not to tell me it sucks. Then after they fail to tell me how much it sucks, I will post it here, and maybe someone who doesn't love me desperately will tell me the truth, whatever that may be.
Posting has started for the DarkFest on LJ. Go read. The first fic is absolutely fab. I can't wait for more.
This is the first Fest I've participated in. I hope my piece is well received, though posting is anonymous, so I won't be able to do a happy dance here, if it is.

Just needed to say, I love writing Quidditch. I am blaming the fact that I am up at 2 am writing Quidditch on
iamisaac, for telling me that what I needed was to show Oliver in action. And here I find myself at her mercy and Oliver's. Hopefully my husband will be happy for my progress and forgive me for not coming to bed tonight.
I want to read something sexy. Not necessarily sex, just sexy. I want strong confident characters in sexy situations.
Once read a trio fic, probably pre- OOTP, where the trio were War Mages, and they were doing this crazy ninja fighting stuff. Matrix like, moving so fast that time slows down, chopping people in half with wizard swords, kind of thing. Very silly, but sexy as hell.
That's what I want to read. Not the war mages, wizard swords stuff, but glamorous and sexy. Pref in the novel length category. Something that will make you feel glam reading it.
Anybody know of anything with that sort of feel?

The hardest part of writing Harry Potter fic is the cursing. I don't curse very much IRL, but apparently I write quite a bit of it. Not only am I writing British cursing, and worrying through the whole thing that it sounds too forced, but I'm writing British wizards cursing, and I really don't know what curse words the wizards would use. There don't seem to be that many.
Maybe you guys can help with this. Other than variations of "Merlin," (his pants, his beard, etc) what specialized vocabulary do wizards have for cursing, whining, arguing, complaining, etc. There really has to be something. Elsewise I'm going to have to make something up, and then it'll really be forced.
I need something to write. Something *else* to write. All my current projects are longer, and I get bogged down. What I need now is ideas for "one shots" that I could start and finish in a few hours or days. Perhaps a fest or community with themes or prompts. I don't really understand the rules, and my inexperience in the fandom makes me hesitate to break into them.

*sigh* I just found a place for Eragon Fanfic. I have an Eragon story in my head, but figured there would be no point writing it, as I haven't seen Eragon Fanfic here. (admittedly, I haven't looked.)
So maybe now I can write it.
